Trap & Skeet
Trap and Skeet are shotgun sports that utilize shotguns to shoot flying targets thrown from automatic machines. A shooter will be presented with a total of 25 flying targets from multiple shooting stations in both of these disciplines. In trap shooting, targets are thrown from a single machine away from the shooter. Skeet on the other hand uses two machines to throw targets in a crossing pattern in front of the shooter. In trap shooters attempt to shoot a single target with a single shot. Skeet has a variation of single shots and the all challenging double; where two targets are launched simultaneously and shooters attempt to track and shoot both targets. In addition to Trap and Skeet we have added in a 5-Stand course. 5-Stand is basically an abbreviated version of sporting clays where shooters attempt a mixture of single targets and a variety of target pairs as well. On our range we have 8 trap machines throwing a variety of different target presentations. The exciting part about 5 stand is that with machines that are mobile and adjustable, configurations are endless.

“Do I need to have my own shotgun?”
The Trap and Skeet range has everything that you need to effectively shoot in either type of shooting. If you have your own shotgun you are more than welcome to bring it along to utilize. Hearing and eye protection are required for shooters on the range. Once again shooters are welcome to bring their own but we do have protective hearing and eye gear at the range as well.
What is the Age Limit?
There is not a defined age limit at the range; shooters under 18 must be with a parent or guardian to participate. Shotguns are fairly heavy/large guns to operate and they do produce a fair amount of recoil. Generally we don’t have many shooters under the age of 12 but each person is different. Shooting sports demand a great deal of respect from the users and we ask that the maturity level is adequate for the activity.
Leagues/Lessons/Contracts
Lessons – We often have people wanting to learn how to shoot trap/skeet or wanting help improving their target hit percentage. We often have beginner shooting lessons throughout the season to accommodate people wanting to learn. We provide everything needed to shoot and typically split up the course for women and men.
Contracts – If you have a group, activity, or event you would like to have at the Trap and Skeet range please contact Outdoor Recreation. We have hosted everything from retirement ceremonies, first Fridays, squadron parties, fundraisers, to just a group of people wanting to shoot somewhere outside of our normal operating hours. The further in advance we can schedule events the better likelihood we can accommodate.
Contact Trap and Skeet/Outdoor Recreation for more information on any of these activities.
